The Olim Project

Written and Directed by Rebecca Flanders

The Olim Project is an original documentary play about the experience of new immigrants to Israel and the joys and struggles they face becoming Israelis. Each actor plays several characters as they encounter different scenarios that come directly from personal interviews of Olim and Sabras (native-born Israelis).

The branding of the project came from hand drawing poppy anemone flowers, Israel’s national flower, that symbolize hope and thriving.

With a low budget and many transitioning locations, we decided to tackle the set with very simple surfaces and use projections to portray the settings. This was my first foray into projection design and animation.
